These five stages are how we keep it straightforward:
Walkthrough and Free Estimate
We look at the wall, the framing behind it, the ceiling height, and where the power or the gas would have to come from,
Then price the work to your budget.
Design and Material Selection
You choose the slab, tile, or timber with our designer, and see the veining laid out before a single piece is cut.
A feature wall is one surface, so the material has to be picked as one.
Framing, Blocking, and Permits
A slab wall and a floating mantel both need steel or timber behind them, and that goes in while the wall is open.
Stone fixed to drywall alone is the one failure you cannot hide.
Build, With Daily Updates
Photos every day in a group text, so you watch the wall go up.
If we open it and find the framing will not carry the weight, you get the photo that day and a price before we carry on.
Nothing gets closed up until you have seen it.
And we sweep clean at the end of each day.
Final Walkthrough
We light it, check every seam and mitre with you, and set the mantel level.
Final payment comes only once you are happy with it.

How long does a fireplace remodel take?
One to two weeks for most, longer if slab is cut to order or the framing has to be rebuilt. You get both dates when you sign.
Can you reface a fireplace without rebuilding it?
Usually yes. If the firebox and the framing are sound we take the old surface off and build the new one over it, which is the quickest version of this job.
Do I need a permit?
Not for a surface change. You do for a new gas line or a new circuit, and we pull it and meet the inspector ourselves.
What does a fireplace remodel cost?

Will the wall hold a slab and a television?
Only with the right blocking behind it, which we put in while the wall is open. We tell you at the walkthrough what your framing can carry.
